3.85 billion years ago the Late Heavy Bombardment of Earth ended, and the surface of Earth could cool and the molten rocks solidify. 3.8 billion years ago the first minimally complex single cell organisms appeared. In a mere 50 million years, nature, by way of chance and necessity, assembled an incredibly complex biochemical machine consisting of maybe as few as 300 proteins, the shortest of which with a propability of about 1 in 10¹²⁵ of forming.

This increadibly improbable event marked the arrival of the fittest, our common ancestor.
